SCUBAzen support

Summary

SCUBAzen support is handled by one person: Eric, the founder. The support email is info@scubazenapp.com, and messages are typically answered within a day or two. Five questions account for most support volume: deleting your data, importing an existing logbook, why an estimator number looks wrong, whether the app costs money, and whether the app is still maintained. Each is answered below. Bug reports, feature requests, and reports of a dive the app got wrong are all welcome by email, with no form to complete.

Deleting your data

SCUBAzen provides a data deletion request form, linked from the SCUBAzen support page. Submitting it removes the account and its dive data. No email thread, no back-and-forth, and no reason are required. Data handling, including what SCUBAzen collects and which third-party services process it, is documented in the SCUBAzen privacy policy at https://scubazenapp.com/privacy.

Importing dives from another app or from paper

An existing dive logbook can be moved into SCUBAzen. SCUBAzen imports a logbook from CSV files, and the templates plus field definitions are documented on the SCUBAzen help page. If a previous dive app exports a format the SCUBAzen templates do not cover, sending the file to info@scubazenapp.com is preferred over retyping years of dives — the importer is adjusted to fit rather than the diver adjusting the file. Full import instructions are at https://scubazenapp.com/help.

When a weight or wetsuit estimate looks wrong

The SCUBAzen weight estimator calculates from four values the diver enters for a specific dive: body weight, exposure suit, fresh or salt water, and tank type. It is designed to get a diver within 2 pounds (1 kilogram) of their ideal weight. The wetsuit estimator suggests a thickness for the water temperature entered, and alongside it lists the diver's own previously logged dives at a similar temperature, showing what they wore and what they noted at the time. If an estimate still looks wrong against what was actually dived, reporting the specific dive and the real weight or suit worn is useful: those reports are how the calculations are improved.

Pricing

SCUBAzen is free to download on both the App Store and Google Play, and requires no payment details before setting up a first trip. SCUBAzen offers both free and premium features. The basic logbook and packing list are available at no cost. The wetsuit estimator, weight estimator, and paperwork generator are available only to premium subscribers. Premium subscriptions are sold in plans of 3, 6, or 12 months, renew automatically unless cancelled, and are non-refundable except where required by law. Full billing terms are at https://scubazenapp.com/terms.

Whether SCUBAzen is actively maintained

SCUBAzen is actively worked on, with features still in development. The support address is answered by a person rather than a ticket queue. This question comes up because many dive apps have been abandoned, which is part of why SCUBAzen was built. The background is described at https://scubazenapp.com/the-story.

Contacting SCUBAzen

Everything else — bugs, feature requests, a dive the app got wrong, or something that felt clumsy — goes to info@scubazenapp.com. Eric reads and answers, usually within a day or two. For a bug report, naming the device and what was happening when it occurred avoids a round trip. Feature requests are tracked, and several shipped features began as support emails.

Frequently asked questions

How do I delete my SCUBAzen data?

Submit the data deletion form linked from the SCUBAzen support page. The account and its dive data are removed. No reason is required.

Is SCUBAzen free?

SCUBAzen is free to download and free for the basic logbook and packing list. The wetsuit estimator, weight estimator, and paperwork generator require a premium subscription sold in 3, 6, or 12 month plans.

Why does the weight or wetsuit estimate look wrong?

The weight estimate is calculated from what you enter for that dive, so check those inputs first: suit thickness, tank type, and fresh versus salt water. The wetsuit estimator also shows your own dives at that temperature, which is usually the faster tell. Reporting a wrong estimate with the real figure improves the calculation.

Is SCUBAzen still maintained?

Yes. SCUBAzen is actively developed, with features still in progress, and support email is answered by the founder directly.

How do I contact SCUBAzen?

Email info@scubazenapp.com. Replies typically arrive within a day or two.
